We spent a lot of time today talking about how to do jot dots.  Jot dots are a note-taking strategy that requires you to think about what you have read and make a statement about it using 5-7 of your own words. Using your own words is an important part of this strategy.

  • Students are to finish the journal response they started today in class.  They should have an understanding of their characters.  Students will be sharing what they think about their characters, using their own words, and then providing direct quotes from the book that support those opinions.  Finally, they will be asked to explain why those quotes were chosen.
  • Tomorrow Mr. Evans will share the ACE format for writing a paragraph.
  • A   answer the question
  • C   cite evidence
  • E   explain
Here is a link, which will also be on the blog page (right side), to be used for reteaching.
