Today was the last day of scheduled SBAC testing.  Make-up tests will happen when time is available and this Friday, May 13th.  Tomorrow, I start SBAC testing with the 5rh grade.  Students will be working with Mr. Evans on Opinion/Argument writing.

*****April 13th is Project Sweet Talk share day.   It will take place in the morning from 9:00 to 11:00. Fox 44 will be here for Cool Schools. *****

All students have an informative piece of writing to do for Project Sweet Talk.  They are encouraged to work on it at home if there is access to the internet.  If not, I have invited all 6th graders to stay for homework club to work on it there.

All students always have a book to read with a genre sheet to complete during or after reading it. This is nightly homework.

No homework, but I wanted to fill you in on Project Sweet Talk.
Students will bring home a guide to Project Sweet Talk to share with you.  Project Sweet Talk is when groups of students go out to the community and interview local sugarmakers.  We record the interview and make a movie.  Each sugarmaker tells a favorite story or memory and it is transcribed on a poster called, "In Their Own Words."  The students create a visual to share what has been learned also.  Maple Sugarin' in Vermont is read and the students write an informative piece of writing on sugaring.  All of this is shared on the Friday of Vermont's Maple Open House Weekend.  This year that date is April 1st.  Look for more information on this next week.
